Members are vitally important to our organization. You can play an important role in Technology For Living just by becoming a member. Any person who receives our services automatically becomes a member.
You do not have to be a Technology For Living active member to use our services. However, it makes us stronger as an organization and as a service provider when you are actively involved. As a non-profit charitable society, Technology For Living is governed by its members. Members can participate at Annual General Meetings, be nominated for the Board of Directors or elect the members of the Board. Good governance is dependent upon full participation. Just like your citizenship responsibility, you have a responsibility to make Technology For Living a democratic, effective organization. If you are not an active member, you can’t fulfill this responsibility.
Built on participating clients
Technology For Living was developed as an organization that is based on members participating. Consumers told us that they wanted the Provincial Respiratory Outreach program and our Technology for Independent Living program to be person centered in all of the supports and services that Technology For Living offers. If the people who use our programs do not become active members then we run the risk of losing that vision.
Our members help get us funding
When Technology For Living applies for grants to finance its work, potential funders look at the number of members as one important piece of evidence that Technology For Living is a member driven, democratic organization.
